Why are funerals so similar from one another? The only detail I can seem to remember is the person who has passed. That’s obviously the most important part but, the ceremony doesn’t have to be so numbing and repetitive. Churches, sermons and cemeteries are not what I want whenever, If ever, I die. I’m not trying to be a funeral-critic but, if it were up to me most funerals would carry out in the traditional viking fashion: the deceased floating out onto the horizon in a canoe on fire with friends and family sending them off from the shore.
